New Artist-William Kentridge

There is a show on at 10 on PBS on Wednesday nights. There are many different artists that get shown on this show. William Kentridge is an artist that does old animation. He uses techniques that are considered old, he does not use the things that we use in class. He spins his art like one would spin it when animating in older days. He inspired me because of this. I know how hard it is to do 200 frames on the computer where you have short cuts and helpful tools. He does his animation without any of these things.
Another thing that I like is how he makes his art look.He uses charcoal and will sometimes create art by moving black pieces of art around and filming the process he goes threw. With the techniques he uses he makes it feel like there is a lot of thought behind his art. Whether there is thought behind his art or not it makes you feel like there is something different beneath the surface.

A still from on of his animated movies.
This is a photo of him sitting with some of his work. He is currently at a showing.
This piece shows how dynamic he can be as an artist.
